Out of Hours Access

Patients are able to make an appointment to see a doctor on the day and 24 hours in advance.  If you do not need an appointment but need advice the doctor is able to talk to you by telephone through our triage service.  You will never be refused to see a doctor if one is available.

However, if we are not able to offer you an appointment you can attend a Walk in Centre.

Walk in Centre

NHS Walk in Centres offer convenient access to a range of NHS services and you can receive treatment for many ailments including:

  • infections and rashes
  • fractures and lacerations
  • emergency contraception advice
  • stomach upsets
  • cuts and bruises
  • burns and strains

Accident and Emergency (A&E)

Major A&E department assess and treat patients who have serious injuries and illness.  Generally you should visit A&E or call 999 for emergencies such as:

  • loss of consciousness
  • pain that is not relieved by simple analgesia
  • acute confused state
  • persistent severe chest pain, or
  • breathing difficulties

Remember, only call 999 or go to the accident and emergency if it's a real emergency

Out of Hours Service

The surgery is open from 8.30 am until 6.30 pm daily.  In additional the surgery provides extended hours on Thursday evening from 6.30pm until 8.00pm when you are able to see a doctor.  On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons the surgery telephone will be transferred to our Out of Hours Service (BADGER).  However, the surgery is open for pre-booked appointments on Thursday during extended hours surgery.  When patients telephone the surgery during times when the surgery is closed they will hear the details of how to contact BADGER on 0300 555 9999.

GP Extended Access

Evening and Saturday appointments are now available for patients who are registered with this GP practice.

The appointments will take place at Harlequin Surgery, 160 Shard End Crescent, Shard End, B34 7BP.

Appointments must be booked in advance through the reception team at this surgery and are available with a range of clinicians including GPs, nurses and health care assistants.

Appointments times are:

Monday to Friday                6.30pm – 8:00pm                                                                    Saturday                           morning only
